A cloud burst caused unprecedented flooding to the Castlebar village of Turlough for a short period yesterday evening.
A number of houses experienced some flooding and a number of roads around the village were under water as the heavens opened and rain poured down, at about 4.30pm yesterday afternoon.
Within a few minutes some roads around the village were under feet of water and its reported that the tarmacadam was lifted off a driveway
At around the same time, driving conditions on the N5 between Castlebar and Ballyvary, particularly in the Turlough area, were hazardous as rain and hail fell in a thunderstorm.
A short time later, the sun came out again and the flooding quickly subsided
