The annual O’Malley Clan Rally takes place this weekend (23-25th June) in Westport and Clare Island.
The AGM of the O’Malley Clan gets underway at 5pm on Friday at Westport House and that’s followed by the sold out Chieftain’s address by Chieftain Martin O’Malley at 6pm, and includes an address by Grace O’Malley’s/ Granuaile’s biographer Ann Chambers.
US based Martin O’Malley is a former Governor of the State of Maryland, and a former Mayor of Baltimore.
There are some tickets still available for the Gala Concert at 8pm this Friday evening at the Holy Trinity Church in Westport with Sean Davey, Rita Connolly, Donal and Cora Lunny.
It will be special one-off performance of extracts from the Granuaile Suite.
This epic work was composed by Shaun Davy in the 1980's for singer Rita Connolly and has been performed all over the world.
Tickets are available at the Town Hall Theatre in Westport and at www.omalleyclan.ie
The rally then moves out to Clare Island on Saturday and Sunday and concludes with the annual Clan Lunch in the Community Centre on the island, where Martin will hand over the mantle of Chieftain, and a new person will take over at the helm for the next 12 months.
