The woman who died after being hit by a train in Sligo last Wednesday will be laid to rest today.

Mother of four Jessica McLoughlin lost her life as she and her niece Rebecca (25) tried to get out of the way of an oncoming train before Jessica was struck by the train and fatally injured.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rebecca was removed from the scene to Sligo University Hospital where she has been receiving treatment for her injuries.

Jessica’s funeral mass takes place today in St Anne’s Church, Sligo at 11:00am.

Burial will take place afterwards in Sligo cemetery.
