Six people have been charged following a joint operation yesterday morning, involving gardai from the Mayo/Roscommon/ Longford and Galway Divisions.

One man aged 26 years, appeared before Belmullet Distrist Court yesterday afternoon charged with a number of drug offences.

Five men, aged between late teens and mid 40s, have been charged in relation to a number of separate offences which include serious assault, criminal damage, possession of offensive weapons and public order offences and they are due to appear before Castlebar District Court this morning.

One man, aged in his 20s remains detained in custody at a Garda station in Mayo and investigations are ongoing.
