Construction begins today on emergency asset renewal works for the Great Western Greenway.

This means that the Greenway will be closed at its beginning at Creggaunahorna and Derrynanaff, just outside Westport.

Resurfacing works over the existing Greenway will take place.

Mayo County Council have announced that the Great Western Greenway will be re-opened every weekend until works are complete.

The Newport to Achill Section will remain open and is unaffected on this first phase of works but check for updates prior to planning a trip on the Great Western Greenway.
