Councillor Michael Kilcoyne has confirmed that an Taoiseach will visit Mayo University Hospital this coming Thursday.

It comes as Leo Varadkar will officially open the new N5 Turlough to Westport road.

Councillor Kilcoyne hopes that he will be able to see 'exactly what the people have to deal with'.

It comes as the hospital has seen high numbers of patients waiting on trolleys over the past number of weeks.
