Over five thousand offers of social housing were turned down in the past two years.

Among the reasons given by households for refusing an offer of a home were small bedrooms, lack of garden space, and no storage for motorbikes.

The Irish Independent says almost twenty-five thousand housing offers were made in 2021 and 2022.

An average of one in five was turned down.
