Just over a third of voters believe Sinn Féin can solve the housing crisis if in power.

The finding - in the lastest Red C / Sunday Business Post poll - will come as a blow to the party, which has been highly critical of the government's housing policy.

However, it does show almost half of voters believe the party's leader, Mary Lou McDonald, would make a good Taoiseach.

The poll continues to rank Sinn Féin as the most popular party in Ireland, at 31 per cent.

Fine Gael is also unchanged at 22 per cent, while Fianna Fáil is up one, to 16 per cent.
