A 35 euro household credit will be applied to SSE Airtricity customer accounts from today.

The company says it is delivering on a promise to forgo profits.

Over 247 thousand accounts in the Republic will receive the credit, costing the firm 8.6 million euro.

It says the figure represents all of the profit it made as an energy supplier.
