
Fine Gael Councillor John Cribbin has announced that he will not run in the 2024 local election.
The Ballyhaunis based representative has served in office since 1999, and his 25 year tenure will cease next year.
Although a difficult decision, Councillor Cribbin says he is happy to go out on his own terms.
Throughout his career in politics, he also served as Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council back in 2010.
By announcing his intentions now, Councillor Cribbin believes he is offering an opportunity for a new candidate to set their stall out and prepare for an election.
