The Housing Minister will to seek Cabinet approval today on a new set of measures to incentivise developers to build homes and reduce the cost of construction.
Development levies for housing could be abolished temporarily under plans to be considered by Cabinet.
The measure is designed to help increase "near-term delivery" and will apply for a set time period.
If the Cabinet approves the measures, projects that begin after that decision will be able to avail of the incentive.
The levy contributes towards the provision of public infrastructure to facilitate construction.
