There is growing concern among business leaders in Galway city over the lack of accommodation available, and its impact on hiring and retaining staff.

The problem is highlighted in a recent survey conducted by Galway Chamber.

Almost 80 percent of firms in Galway indicated that the low level of housing in the city is impacting on their ability to hire and retain staff.

Over half say accommodation issues are 'regularly' highlighted by people when considering a role.

Over a third say potential hires have cited the poor quality of available accommodation.
