Mayo County Council have confirmed that the first section of the new N5 Westport to Turlough Road Project, the Castlebar Bypass, will open on Wednesday, 26 April 2023 at 11am.

This 10km section of the N5 is a 100kmh dual carriageway and will extend from the N5 Roundabout at Turlough to the N5 Roundabout at Pheasanthill on Westport Road.

 The left in/left out interchanges at the N60 Breaffy Road & N84 Ballinrobe Road will also be opened at this time.
