The teen who lost his life following a road traffic collision between Ballindine and Irishtown last week has been named locally.

Jack Warde, from Dunmore in Co Galway was seriously injured in the collision that took place before 1 o'clock on the morning of Tuesday 14th February and has since passed away in hospital.

A female passenger - aged in her teens - injured during the collision was taken to hospital and is being treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the accident to come forward.

They are also appealing to motorists who may have dash-cam footage and were travelling in the area between midnight and 1am, to make the footage available.
