Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses following a fatal traffic collision in County Galway early yesterday morning

Shortly before 6:30am, Gardaí were alerted to a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the N84 at Carrowbrowne on the Headford Road, Galway.

The pedestrian, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene and was removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Galway (UHG) where a post-mortem examination will take place.

The driver of the car was taken to hospital for assessment only.

The road was closed to traffic yesterday morning for a garda forensic investigation and re-opened yesterday afternoon. 

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward. Road users with camera footage (including dash cam) who were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make it available to investigating Gardaí.
