Gardaí are understood to be investigating an “unacceptable” double incident that occurred in Hastings Insurance MacHale Park, Castlebar last month.

Mayo GAA Board Chairman Seamus Tuohy stated that two stewards were assaulted at the recent Allianz National Football League game between Mayo and Galway.

The news broke on Wednesday evening at Mayo GAA’s monthly County Board meeting.

Seamus Tuohy explained that one steward was verbally assaulted and physically approached, before the aggressor put their hands on the steward.

The meeting learned that another steward had an item thrown at her that evening also.

The Chairman stated: “I hope these are isolated incidents but if anything like that happens again the law will have to play a part.”
