€65.3 million euro has been allocated to Mayo roads network.

The funding will see the allocation of €39m towards the progression of the N5 Westport to Turlough project. The total cost of the project is €241m.

A further €12m has been allocated for the progression of the N5 Ballaghaderreen to Scramogue project, which will now proceed to tender stage, which has an overall cost of €200m.

The funding has been allocated to Mayo County Council through Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) for national roads.

A total of €6m has been granted for the Heathlawn N60 project from Balla to Claremorris with an additional €2m granted for the Newport to Derrada realignment project.

€3 million will be put towards bridge repairs and rehabilitation in the county.

It also sees €250,000 allocated to the N58 Foxford by-pass to further progress this project while €300,000 has been allocated for the Westport to Mulranny road project for outstanding committed land payments.

A total of €400,000 has been granted towards upgrade works on the N17 Knock to Collooney road.

Other projects include a rural bus stop in Kilkelly and traffic lights in Ballinrobe town.

This news has been confirmed by Fine Gael Deputy Alan Dillon who has also announced the allocation of  €2.3 million from TII to Mayo County Council to support the extension of the Great Western Greenway.
