The death has occurred of Ballaghaderreen based solicitor, P. Desmond (Des) O’Connor.

Mr. O’Connor was Coroner for the County of Roscommon and was the longest serving coroner in Ireland.

He passed away on Monday at Mayo University Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy, daughter, Elizabeth, sons Desmond, Edward and Brian, grandchildren and extended family.

Des will repose in the Kilgarriff Funeral Home, Ballaghaderreen on Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Funeral will arrive to the St. Nathy’s Cathedral on Saturday afternoon for Mass of the Resurrection at 1 p.m. with burial afterwards in Kilcolman Cemetery.
