A new 6.3 million euro Roscommon Palliative Care Unit opened this morning.

The 8 bed inpatient care unit, built by the Mayo Roscommon hospice, will provide full day care support for patients and their families.  

The facility in Roscommon comes some 3 years after the charity opened a state of the art facility in Mayo.

CEO of the Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation Martina Jennings has welcomed the news, saying services like this are so badly needed in Roscommon.
