A number of armed Garda units were observed in the village of Partry yesterday evening.

Some listeners to Midwest News, shortly after 4pm yesterday, described a “huge Garda presence" swarming the village that is located along the main Castlebar to Ballinrobe road.

A Garda car was also reported as having crashed into a wall near Partry Garda Station.

Midwest West News has contacted the gardai for comment and we are awaiting a response.
