A man's been charged with the murder of an Irishman in Australia.

Damien Conlon, originally from Co. Sligo but living in Australia for the past decade, was found with gunshot wounds at a house in Oberon in New South Wales on Thursday.

He died at the scene despite efforts to revive him.

7 News Australia reports that 57 year old Luke Simon has been formally charged with Mr. Conlon's murder and will spend 7 weeks in prison ahead of his next court appearance on April 5th.

It's believed the two men were known to each other.
