The number of people in public hospitals with Covid-19 has dropped below 300 for the first time since St. Stephen's Day.

290 are receiving hospital treatment, with 65 of those patients in ICU.

Last night's figures show 4 Covid patients being treated at Mayo University Hospital - that's down from 10 a week ago.

There are 13 patients with the virus being treated at Sligo University Hospital, 7 at Galway University Hospital and 4 at Portiuncla in Ballinasloe - both Galway hospitals showing an increase over the past week.

Meanwhile, a further 368 new cases of the virus were confirmed last night, along with 14 additional deaths.

It's the third lowest number of daily case numbers recorded this year.

In this region, the new cases are very low across Connacht, with 5 in Mayo, less than 5 in both Galway and Leitrim, and no new cases reported in Roscommon or Sligo.
