
On-street seating charges for cafes, pubs and restaurants are being waived for businesses in Galway city.
It's estimated that it will cost the local authority 40,000 euro and is designed to help businesses get back on their feet when the green light is given to re-open.
Around 50 businesses in the city at present pay for 'Section 254' licences, to allow them use public spaces for customers.
Director of Services at Galway City Council Brian Barrett says the businesses will still need to register for a permit and must also have public liability insurance in place.
