Two young people from Co Roscommon and one from Co Galway were among the winners of the national Credit Union are competition, announced last night at a special virtual ceremony.

Over 30,000 entries were received for this year's Credit Union competition on the theme "Imagine More", which encouraged participants to dream about what life will be like when Covid-19 restrictions aren't part of our world.

Eleven category winners were announced, along with 22 runner-up and merit awards.

In the 8-10 years group, Katelyn Garvey of Balaghadereen Credit Union took the Merit award, while Lauren McTieran of Roscommon Credit Union was runner-up in the 14-17 years category.

In the category of people with disabilities, Jonas Whyte of St Jarlath's Credit Union in Tuam was the winner in the 8-10 year group.
