Gardaí have seized over 10,500 euro worth of drugs and arrested one man following searches in north Mayo.

The Mayo Garda Divisional Drugs Unit, along with Ballina Gardai carried out a planned search under warrant of a private dwelling in the Corroy area of Knockmore. late yesterday evening.

A significant amount of controlled drugs were seized which consisted of cocaine with a street value of over 8000 euro and cannabis with a street value of 2,500 euro.

A man was arrested during the course of the search operation and was brought to Ballina Garda Station for questioning.

He was released earlier this morning and a file is being prepared for the DPP.

The search is part of an ongoing operation over the past 18 months in the north Mayo area into the sale and supply of controlled drugs
