Leaving Cert students will not be permitted to wear face masks during their upcoming oral exams.

The Irish Times reports that perspex screens will be used instead, to ensure clear communication.

It comes as the exams are set to be carried out by teachers and audio recordings will then be sent to the State Examinations Commission for marking.

Rueban Murray, President of the Irish Second Level Students union says this will benefit students while keeping everyone safe.
