A Fianna Fail senator is calling for churches to be allowed to open for Mass over Easter.
Public worship in Catholic churches in the North is resuming on Friday of next week, ahead of Easter Sunday the following week.
But public Masses won't be allowed in the Republic for the foreseeable future, except for small funerals and weddings.
Senator Eugene Murphy says the government should reconsider that.
