The burst Watermain in Castlebar has been repaired this afternoon with supply restored to over 300 properties.

A Mayo County Council crew, in partnership with Irish Water, had been working for several hours on the fault.

The watermain, which burst yesterday, affected 300 properties, including homes at Fortlands Estate, Cherrington Place, Fairways Estate and Windsor rural in Castlebar.

Local Fianna Fail Councillor Blackie Gavin told Midwest News today that a section of the ring main has been replaced.
