The man who died in a road collision in south Mayo yesterday has been named locally as Martin (Mattie) Lydon of Creevagh, Cong.

Mr Lydon, who was in his late 70's, died when the car he was driving was involved in a collision with a lorry between Cross and the Neale.

His Funeral Mass will be held at 12 noon on Thursday in St Mary's Church, Cong followed by burial in Lisloughrey Cemetery.

The funeral is for family only, and the Mass can be viewed on O'Malley funeral directors Facebook page.

Mr Lydon is survived by his sisters, nephews, nieces and extended family.
