The death occurred yesterday evening of Canon Michael Joyce.

Canon Joyce, originally from Foxford, was a priest in the diocese of Achonry.

He had lived in Swinford since his retirement as Parish Priest of Bohola.

Fr Joyce taught for many years in St Patrick’s College, Swinford and St Nathy’s College, Ballaghaderreen and served as Parish Priest in Curry, Swinford and Bohola.

Former Mayo deputy and County football Manager John O’Mahony was taught by Canon Michael in St Nathy’s, and later taught with him in the college, and he has paid him this tribute.
