The R312 Glenisland road outside Castlebar has reopened, following a serious road collision yesterday evening.

At about 7pm, a motorcyclist in his 20's was seriously injured when his bike left the road at Glenisland.

He was taken by ambulance to Mayo University Hospital.

A forensic examination at the scene and now concluded, and the road has reopened to traffic.

Castlebar Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
