A funeral service will take place later today for a 45-year-old man who died following a hit-and-run collision in Castlebar this week.

Latvian native Deniss Prosvirnevs, of Spencer Street,  Castlebar was struck by a car at Humbert Way in the town on Wednesday night.

 Deniss was a gifted construction worker and worked in many parts of Mayo.

A  Russian Orthodox Service will take place at the Kilcoyne Funeral Home, Thomas Street, Castlebar  this afternoon at 2.30pm.  Farewell will be at 3pm. 

Private cremation will follow later and Dennis will then be repatriated to his native Latvia.
