A man in his 30s arrested after a hit and run in County Mayo has been released without charge.

A pedestrian in his 40s was hit by a car in the Humbert Way area of Castlebar on Wednesday night.

He later died from his injuries at Mayo University Hospital.

A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
