There's good news for the West Roscommon and East Mayo areas, as the Loughglynn Ambulance Service is to begin operating on a 24 hours a day / 7 days a week basis from this week.

That's according to Roscommon Sinn Fein TD Claire Kerrane, who says the National Ambulance Service has confirmed that a number of interim measures are being introduced to begin a around-the-clock service, through the use of overtime and non-rostered staff, until the next cohort of trainee paramedics are trained.

Deputy Kerrane says the move to a 24 / 7 service will save lives .....
