An Achill man has died following a fire at his home in the UK.

The body of 77-year old Martin ( Marty) Patten - a native of Derowla, Saula, Achill - was found in his home on the outskirts of Oxford over two weeks ago.

It's understood there was no-one else in the house at the time.

Emergency services attended the scene, and Mr Patten's body was found in the house by firefighters.

His funeral arrangements have yet to be confirmed.

Mr Patten is survived by his daughter, two sons, brother, sisters and extended family.
