The Minister of State at the Department of Heritage, Malcolm Noonan has announced €200,000 funding for Sligo town under the Heritage re-generation streetscape, conservation and enhancement scheme.
Minister of State, Frank Feighan says the significant funding will provide Sligo Co Council with huge scope to undertake works on O’Connell Street at the heart of Sligo town.
The project will involve private owners working with Sligo County Council to undertake the heritage-led regeneration of O'Connell Street (Architectural Conservation Area) in Sligo town through streetscape conservation and enhancements.
Minister Feighin say the €1m in capital funding nationally under this scheme will help to provide jobs and economic stimulus through heritage-led regeneration and will aid the rebuilding of local economies with heritage as a focal point.
