€22.5 million euro has now been secured for a new 50 bed Residential Care Centre in Tuam and work on the long awaited facility is set to get underway on site by April.

The news was confirmed at this week's virtual HSE West Forum meeting  by HSE management, in response to a question by local Fianna Fail councillor Donagh Killilea.

This extensive development at Sean Purcell Road in Tuam, has been part funded by the late Helen and Joe O’Toole and their family and friends.

Cllr Killilea says it’s very welcome news for health care facilities in the Tuam area and will be a real jobs boost during and after construction.
