Parishes across the country are handing out take-away ashes for people to use on Ash Wednesday.

Mass will be offered online in many churches around the country, with people applying the ashes themselves in their homes.

Sachets of blessed ashes can be picked up from the church in Dunmore, Co Galway.

Parish priest Fr Fergal Cunnane says they're keeping an eye on supplies as he expects good demand....

Meanwhile, sachets of ashes are also available in Ballyhaunis - in the Church porch and in retail outlets in the town that also distribute the church newsletters.

Fr Stephen Farragher will bless the ashes during Wednesday's 10am morning Mass which is broadcast live on Midwest Radio as well as parish radio and the church webcam.
