Progress is being made in the development of the Keem Signature Discovery Point in Achill.

That's according to Mayo TD Alan Dillon, who says consulting engineers will be appointed by the end of April for the long-awaited Skywalk and Skeleton Sculpture, which will be the highlight of the Signature Discovery Point on the Wild Atlantic Way.

Other works will include a pedestrian access trail connecting the former Coastguard residence with the Watch House, as well as partial restoration of the Watch House as a shelter for walkers.

Deputy Alan Dillon - the FG spokesman on Tourism - estimates the works will cost between €3 and €4 million euro, and once completed, he says the new Keem Skywalk will be the "jewel in the crown" of Achill's developing tourism sector.

He told Midwest News that the engineering design services will be appointed shortly for the Keem Signature Discovery Point, and he hopes to see construction getting underway later this year...
