While Covid-19 case numbers are continuing to fall across the West, the HSE is appealing to the public to continue to stay apart, wear a mask and wash hands regularly.

The 14-day incidence rate of the virus in Mayo is now 619 per 100,000 people, while Galway's rate is 465 per 100,000 and 232 per 100,000 in Roscommon.

Dr Breda Smyth of the HSE West says that, while we have seen some improvement in recent weeks, there's still a way to go, and people are being asked to continue to work from home and stay home as much as possible, while continuing to follow the public health advice on stay apart, wearing masks and washing hands.

Over the past week, over 2,000 Covid tests were carried out in Galway with 864 in Mayo and 340 in Roscommon.
