Staffing is the primary challenge currently facing nursing homes and acute hospitals across the region.
That’s according to the Chief Executive of Nursing Homes Ireland Tadhg Daly.
It follows a warning from the HSE that it may be unable to provide additional public health nurses to private homes if they are hit by new outbreaks of Covid-19.
Many staff across the health service are out of work at present due to Covid infection or exposure to the virus, increasing staffing pressures.
Tadhg Daly, the Chief Executive of Nursing Homes Ireland told Midwest News that staff have stepped up to the plate to sustain services at homes.
