The number of people in hospital with Covid-19 has fallen by over 500 over the past ten days.

Latest figures show there are 1,548 patients in hospital with the virus - compared 1,954 on the 19th of January.

Across the region there are 72 patients with the virus at Mayo University Hospital, 70 at Galway University Hospital, 46 at Sligo and 6 at the Portiuncula.

17 patients with the infection are in critical care beds in Galway, there are 4 each in Mayo and Sligo and 3 in the Portiuncula.

213 people are in intensive care with the disease, and 13 hospitals have no ICU beds available.

1,466 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed yesterday, along with 47 deaths.

There are 106 new cases in Galway, 68 in Mayo, 15 in Sligo, eleven in Roscommon and less than five in Leitrim.
