A man was arrested and more than €31,000 worth of cannabis plants and herb seized, following a search of a house in Co Roscommon on Saturday.

Gardai from the Roscommon / Longford Divisional Drugs Unit carried out a search of a house in Knockroghery shortly before 5pm Saturday evening.

A suspected cannabis grow house was located in two bedrooms of the house, and cannabis plants and a quantity of cannabis herb were seized.

A man in his mid-20's was arrested at the scene and taken to Castlerea Garda Station where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

He's since been released without charge and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
