A quantity of drugs and cash were seized in West Mayo yesterday following the arrest of a man.

Gardaí attached to the Mayo Divisional Drugs Task Force stopped and searched a 24 year old man in a vehicle in Westport Town.

He was found in possession of cocaine with a value of €1,260 (subject to analysis) and €700 in cash which was seized.

Following on from this, a search warrant was executed at a home in Westport town centre.

During this search Gardaí recovered a quantity of suspected cocaine valued at €2,100 (subject to analysis), weighing scales, deal bags and a further €2,280 in cash.

The male was arrested for possession of Drugs for sale and supply and was detained and interviewed at Castlebar Garda Station.

A file will be completed for the DPP.

These searches were part of ongoing intelligence led operations targeting the sale and supply of illegal drugs in the Mayo Division.
