Gardai have confirmed that the search for a missing Galway man has been stood down, following the discovery of a body yesterday.

A search had been ongoing since 29th December for 43-year old Fergal Guilfoyle, who was last seen in the Newcastle Road area of Galway two weeks before that.

Gardai have thanked the public for their assistance.
