Not everyone who wishes to attend Mass on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day will be able to do so this year, due to the limit on the numbers attending Church services.

That's according to the Bishop of Achonry Paul Dempsey, who's also reminding people that the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days remains suspended during the Covid-19 pandemic.

With restrictions on the number of people who can attend Mass, some parishes are increasing the number of Masses being held over the festive period to accommodate numbers, while others are putting a booking system in place.

Bishop Dempsey says Christmas is more than just one day, and people are welcome to attend Mass or visit their local Church for private prayer between Christmas Eve and the 6th January - or tune into Church webcams to watch Mass from the comfort of their own homes.

Speaking with Midwest News this lunchtime, Bishop Dempsey said this Christmas will be like no other.
