Gardaí are appealing to people to ensure goods they purchase online are genuine, after counterfeit clothing and footwear was recovered following a raid on a house in Tuam.

The search was carried out last week and it's understood the products were being sold and distributed around the country. Some items had been packed and were ready for postage. 

A total of 150 pairs of counterfeit trainers were found, along with clothing branded with designer names including Canada Goose, Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, Hugo Boss and Ralph Lauren. 

Investigations are continuing and no arrests have yet been made.
