
Nominations are now invited for the 2021 Mayo Garda Youth Awards.
In its third year, the awards celebrate outstanding young Mayo people, aged between 13 and 21.
Together with the awards sponsor, SuperValu, the Gardai in the county want to celebrate and recognise young people who make their communities a better place to live in.
Members of the public are invited to nominate a young person they know who is committed to making a difference in their community.
The nomination process for the 2021 Mayo Garda Youth Awards remains the same as previous years, despite Covid-19, and the gardaí are this week distributing nomination forms online to schools, youth groups and voluntary organisations across the county.
In addition the nomination forms will be available from garda stations and local Supervalu stores and on www.garda.ie.
Nominations can be made under four categories – individual award, group award, special achievement award and community safety award.
The second annual John McCallion Memorial Award will also be presented in recognition of a young person’s engagement with youth in their locality.
Mayo Garda Chief Supt Tony Healy says that every nominee will receive a certificate, even if they do not win an award.

The closing date for receipt of nominations is January 29, 2021 and the winners will be announced on February 12, 2021.
