The Minister for Health has confirmed how the Covid-19 vaccine will be allocated here.
Minister Stephen Donnelly brought a memo to Cabinet this morning on the rollout of the vaccine, which has now been signed off by Cabinet ministers.
The strategy will prioritise those over the age of 65 living in nursing homes and long-term care facilities, frontline healthcare workers and people aged 70 and over.
The Minister confirmed that the vaccine programme will be available free of charge to everyone.
However, Minister Donnelly says people should not let their guards down, now that there are vaccines on the horizon, and says it's crucially important that we continue adhering to public health measures - including washing hands, covering sneezes, avoiding crowded places, physcially distancing and wearing face coverings - to keep the disease at bay.
