Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian in Sligo Town last night.

The incident occurred on John Street, Sligo at approximately 9:45pm.

The pedestrian, a man in his 50s, was taken to Sligo University Hospital to be treated for his injuries; he has since been taken to Beaumont Hospital where his condition is described as serious.

Forensic Collision Investigators are currently technically examining the scene and the road is closed to allow this examination to take place.

Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area from 9:30pm – 10pm to make this footage available to Gardaí.
